Satish Mehta went to Film and Television Institute of Pune for his formal theater training and had served as director of Bharat Bhavan Bhopal in his later life.
He had written several Short Stories, Newspaper Articles, Reviews, Books and Plays. He used to write a weekly newspaper column on his own international travel experiences at various places in World. Few of the noted Plays/Books written by Mr. Mehta are as “Door Desh ki Gandh”, “Rangkarm Aayam Dar Aayam”, “Jinda Hai Sukarat”, “Abhinay”, “Kajal Ka Jadoo”.
Satish Mehta was recognized by many awards like “Sahitya Akadami Puraskar*, “Kala Parishad Samman”, *Madhya Pradesh Rashtra Bhasha Samman”, Abhinav Kala Parishad Samman”, “Rang Aadhar Puraskar”, “Vageeshvari Samman”, “Dr Siddhnath Smriti Samman”, Bhilwara Natya Puraskar*, “Kala Mandir Samman”, ” Rang Sadahna Samman”, “Madhuvan – Shresth Kala Acharya Samman”, Harikhrishan Premi Puraskar” and many more.
Prayog theater festival is trying to implement the vision of experimentation of Shri Satish Mehta by trying to do its first ever festival on theater and open new frontiers of art, culture, and drama. Drama needs to be celebrated as part of life and not just entertainment is the vision of Shri Satish Mehta for which Prayog is striving.
Satish Mehta, though a Masters degree in Science and a Professor of Physics was always a theater enthusiast along with his wife Mrs. Jyotsna Mehta born in a Telugu family.
Mrs. Mehta, though a Science and Mathematics Double Masters with Honors, was always inclined toward theater and acting. Jyotsna Mehta has been acting in Hindi theater since her childhood and has been an integral part of Satish Mehta’s Theater Journey, She has been doing the theater since her school days when girls were not even sent to school. Her mother was very supportive and she took social criticism very sportingly.x
