Ameeya Mehta has participated in the following plays:

Ameeya Mehta is an IT professional by profession but theater artist and director at heart. His passion for art and theater is genetic. His Father Prof Satish Mehta is a well-known play writer and director in India. His Mother Mrs. Jyotsna Mehta is also a well-known theater artist in India. The first time ever Ameeya participated in a Theater Play, was at a tender age of 8. It was in the Play, “Panchhi ese aate hai”, staged by Prayog Theater Group, India. Ever since then, his theater journey has started; which is still ongoing.

Prayog Theater Group, India was formed by Prof. Satish Mehta and Jyotsna Mehta in 1976. Ameeya has been an integral part of this group ever since, playing all different roles on-stage and off-the-stage. In 2012, Ameeya with the help of Prof. Satish Mehta established the International Arm of Prayog Theater Group, in New Jersey.

He directed the first play “Adalat Ashisko ki” of this newly formed group in 2012, which received grand success and adulation from audience. “Natak Nahi” was the next play by Prayog USA, which was staged during International Hindi Conference in 2013. Ameeya acted in this play and received admiration from audience.

Next, Ameeya directed Sharad Joshi’s play “Andho ka Hathi”, which was staged in Consulate General of India – New York. Andhon Ka Hathi, turned out to be a great success for Prayog USA. After the success of first show of Andhon ka Hathi, it has been staged a number of times, across USA.

Prayog USA’s next play and Ameeya’s recent directorial venture, “Raktbeej”, by Dr. Shankar Shesh was staged during second International Hindi Conference in Rutgers University. Raktbeej received very good audience response as well.

Apart from theater, Ameeya’s interest is in literature. He has been writing stories and poems from an early age. Few of his short stories have been published in different Hindi magazines; including the well know “Dharmyug”.

Ameeya and his team have been doing regular theater work since 2012. He plans to continue doing theater and bring the quality work to the audience for a long time to come.
